Beschreibung

Lead from No: A Systematic Approach to Leadership Negotiation

When you hear the word “negotiation,” what comes to mind? Do you imagine a business agreement where both sides reach a mutually beneficial solution? Maybe you picture big deals such as sales, contracts, procurement, mergers, and acquisitions? Perhaps you also think of compromise, win-win, or getting someone to say “yes”? Would you consider “leadership” as a critical type of negotiation? If you lead people, you negotiate every day. This book dares to claim negotiation and leadership interconnect. Leaders that don’t fear the word “No,” gain respect, connect, and build trust with their teammates. Lead from No presents a systematic approach to Leadership Negotiation. By integrating the “Camp System,” also referred to as the “No” system of negotiation, into numerous leadership and business scenarios, this book can help leaders at any level. Author Jim Camp, Jr.‘s unique experiences as a senior military leader, combined with his extensive negotiating coaching background, makes a strong case that “Leadership Negotiation” is the most important form of negotiation. In this book, you will discover the ability to negotiate serves as a foundation for effective leadership, and the same characteristics that make you a better negotiator will improve your success as a leader. Author Bio Jim Camp Jr is a co-owner and coach at Camp Negotiations. Jim’s deceased father, Jim Camp Sr., started the company twenty-five years ago and authored Start with No. Jim, his brother Todd Camp, and their team of coaches help companies avoid unnecessary compromise by implementing the Camp System of negotiation. In addition to extensive negotiation coaching experience, Jim is a retired major general from the United States Air Force. His thirty-four-year career as a leader in the Air National Guard included numerous combat deployments as a pilot, command assignments, and strategic level leadership positions. In addition to commanding five thousand airmen in the Ohio National Guard, Jim also served as the National Guard’s Advisor to US Transportation Command. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and has a master’s degree in organizational leadership. Jim and his wife Cynthia have four children and three grandchildren, and they live in Cape Coral, Florida. Early Praise “Jim Camp Jr. has built upon a highly proven negotiation system to bring maximum value where our companies and organizations need it most—leadership. Regardless of your industry or leadership level, Lead from No will make you better.“ -Kyle Pirnat, Global Technology Leader and former Marine Corps Officer (veteran, combat distinction) “Jim Camp’s successful military career truly illustrates how the power of ‘Leading from No’ enables strong alignment within any team. Additionally, Camp’s structured process of slowing down to explore the ‘no’ ultimately leads to better decisions and long-lasting agreements. A must read for all leaders!” -Susan Scutt, Managing Director, Partners Group “Jim Camp Jr. cracks the code on successful negotiation and leadership. From personal relationships to military service and academia to industry…a negotiated no can build trust and form the foundation for success.” -Kevin P. Cullen, Assistant Vice Provost & Director, Military & Veterans Services, The Ohio State University, Colonel, US Air Force (Retired) "Jim Camp Jr.'s Lead from No is an insightful and practical guide that redefines how we think about leadership and negotiation. His wisdom is grounded in real-world experiences, making this a must-read for anyone serious about improving their leadership and negotiation skills.“ - Alfredo Sandes Sampaio, Founder of Dixie Capital
