I've been watching it carefully since the beginning and have seen it grow into a global movement. Artists come and go. Some stay around and I've had the honour of getting down with old school talents such as Banksy, the London Police, Hugo Kaagman and Shepard Fairey. These are the founding fathers. The new school, the next generations as it were are snapping at their heels, hungry to get up and make their names. Some have chosen it for a short route to fame but a few are seriously talented and offer some original ideas. Laser 3.14 is one of these. He brings something completely new, something that no-one else is currently doing anywhere in the world. Word of his talent is rapidly spreading and soon he will have imitators trying to jump his game, jump on his style. This book shows the first vital part of his journey. It is important for artists to be acknowledged by the media and most importantly to go down in history in books.' De straten schreeuwen poëzie. Soms oorverdovend, soms oogverblindend, vaak allebei tegelijkertijd. Je ziet in de straten verschillende lagen van de bevolking zich op dit denkbeeldige doek voortbewegen, er leven, uitbundig, soms ingehouden. Je hoort gekrakeel op straat, flarden mooi pianospel dat vanaf een etage op drie hoog langs je heen waait op een mooie zomeravond. De straten tonen verschillende gebouwen, onregelmatige straattegels, afgescheurde posters, schoongespoten muren en verweerde schuttingen, kortom: de stad schreeuwt poëzie. Er is hoegenaamd geen verschil tussen het werk dat ik aan deze stad toevoeg en de poëzie van de straten, van deze stad zelf. Het enige verschil is dat mijn werk duidelijk doelbewust voor het publiek zichtbaar geplaatste poëzie is. In tegenstelling tot de poëzie van de stad, die niet voor iedereen toegankelijk is, niet alleen omdat men zich er bewust voor moet openstellen. Soms is zij voor velen gewoon niet zichtbaar. De teksten plaats ik doelbewust op niet permanente plaatsen, ondergronden en bouwschuttingen. Hierdoor zijn de teksten niet van blijvende aard. Doordat zij elk moment kunnen verdwijnen, ontstaat er een dynamiek in het grote, continu veranderende gedicht. Op de vergankelijkheid van een stad kun je geen houdbaarheidsdatum plakken. Het is een vaststaand feit dat deze stad en al haar poëzie – al is de (houdbaarheids)datum voor niemand bekend – fundamenteel en onveranderbaar is verankerd in de vergankelijkheid.’ Buchrückseite ‘I
