Volume 6 of "Benjamin-Blätter" interprets Benjamin's works as products of an inveterate border crosser. Borders and crossing frontiers not only play a crucial role in Benjamin's biography and the "afterlife" of his texts beyond Europe, including Israel and Brazil, but they are also fundamental for his intellectual legacy and the wide variety of his critically acclaimed writings. Among other topics, the volume investigates exile as an existential experience in modernity, the aestheticization of politics, and the critique of violence, while also examining Benjamin's relationship to such seminal thinkers and fellow border crossers as Kant, Nietzsche, Ernst Bloch, Peter Weiss and Yoko Tawada.
