Beschreibung
The second volume succeeds in describing the complex and difficult Louis XV (1715 - 1774). The symptoms of the crisis of state and society which already begin to manifest under his rule are illustrated. His successor Louis XVI found himself to be overburdened with this crisis. With great expertise the author tracks latter's failed efforts to stop the originally slow and later open demise of the authority of the throne and government. The non consequential reforms, finally lead to the fall of the Bourbon kings in the wake of the revolution. von Malettke, Klaus
