Beschreibung
At an increasingly fraught time for immigrants and their families, Mira Jacob's touching and hilarious graphic memoir delves into the difficult conversations about race, sex, love and family that seem to be unavoidable these days. When Mira Jacob's son started asking questions such as, are white people afraid of brown people? Is Daddy afraid of us? Jacob, daughter of Indian immigrants and married to a white Jewish American, at first didn't know what to say. Good Talk is her attempt to change that. From remembering how it felt to be a brown-skinned New Yorker on 9/11 to fantasising about having Bill Murray as her therapist, Mira Jacobs explores her life and imagination to understand her identity, with the result that this isn't just a memoir. It's a bunch of conversations Mira Jacob can't stop thinking about. Sharp with anger, fizzing with wit, it is both deeply poignant and laugh-out-loud funny. von Jacob, Mira
