Enjoy while we can, wait for the end. So how do we convince others to take action? How do they perceive? The truth is not enough. We need beautiful truth – not only for the cyclone but for the global crises of our time. Metaphors, stories, captivation. Coleridge and Wordsworth need to shake hands with Alexander Pope. Newton has to rekindle the passion in his heart and look at the stars with Walt Whitman, seeing them not just as gaseous bodies in an expanding space-time continuum, but as fixed points of rapture and solace in our emotional universe. Socrates must sing, Nero must take the oath of truth. To align all on the yacht, a world divided between the Enlightenment and the Romantics, between science and the arts, between fact and beauty, needs to be put back together again.
