The essays in this volume are revised contributions to symposia and conferences that took place between 2010 and 2015. I have decided to gather them in one book because I believe that, in their entirety, they outline an architectural idea that - perhaps - can make a valuable contribution to the debate. The main features of this architectural idea are described in the introductory essays. In the essays, I repeatedly refer to some of my designs. This is because it seems to me to be the most effective way of showing some of the "principles" described, and, above all, because I think that this best testifies to the feedback between theoretical considerations and design experience in our work.
