The situation of crime in India in the year 2014 is analysed. The laws framed to protect and empower the women are highlighted. Also the various schemes framed for the betterment of women have been brought out. Women have been discriminated and dominated since ages by the men who possess a mere excess of physical strength over their counterparts. To some extent the decrease in morals, ethics and cultural values have lead to the increased crime against women. Educating the masses would be a first step for the Government.To address this situation the global community has come forward and accorded diverse rights to women.
