Über den Autor
The book is written by well experienced authors in the field of geothermal research. The editor Ernst Huenges has academic degrees as physicist and process engineer and is head of the International Centre for Geothermal Research at the German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam.Research activities of Ernst Huenges aim at providing an environmentally benign and sustainable geothermal production of electric power and heat as well as subsurface storage of heat and cold. In his focus the supply of geothermal energy should become site-independent in the long-term and tailored according to demand and thus supplementing, at the same time, other renewable energy sources. This requires interdisciplinary approaches and synergies are seen in connection with a series of developing fields of research such as efforts to increase drinking water or hydrocarbon production and to evolve technologies for underground storage of CO2 (sequestration). His specific working fields are petrophysics and geohydraulic of deep Earth?s systems with experimental modelling approaches in petrophysical laboratories as well as by performing large scale tests in deep boreholes.
